Critical Thinking
Four key elements that are often considered in the evaluation of design are aesthetics, concept, context, and fitness for purpose. In this case, I will be discussing these four elements of the design of a window.
The aesthetics of a window is a crucial part of a building or a room as it can change the entire appearance. The usual design for a window is just a simple square piece of glass that can be opened and closed an example of this is one of the windows I have in my home. Though there are many different styles of windows such as abstract shapes and colors made from various materials to ensure it complements the overall design of the building or room. This is what designers need to consider, as you would not put a huge triangular window with different shapes in my home as it would not blend with the rest of the design in my house. On the other hand, a different color frame or open-styled window could be considered to create a more modern feel to the room.

A window is very simple. Though a window should not only serve its functional purpose but also contribute to the overall design concept of the place. My window is sectioned to allow natural sunlight into my kitchen, but if I was to have high ceilings it could be considered to have larger, floor-to-ceiling windows that allow maximum light penetration. As well as having the design of the window fit out for a place, designers need to also consider factors such as energy efficiency, safety, and durability to ensure it performs as expected and meets the needs of its users.
